Celebration Banquet
October 7, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Guest names for each seat are required by September 23.
The main event begins with the presentation of the first Hoover Presidential Foundation Great Humanitarian Award to President Bush and his wife Laura. The award was created to recognize individuals who have demonstrated or provided meritorious and altruistic support to those in need. It is offered in the spirit of Herbert Hoover’s efforts to save millions of western Europeans from starvation dating back to 1914.
It is our honor to recognize the relief and humanitarian efforts George and Laura Bush propagated throughout the world through the President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR), in addition to Laura’s health care initiatives for women, including breast cancer screening advocacy. Together, their efforts to continue the humanitarian work begun at the White House, support for women’s health, serving more than 13.3 million people with lifesaving antiretroviral treatment tell an amazing story. Laura Bush is not expected to attend.
Margaret Hoover, host of the PBS series, Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, and one of Herbert Hoover’s great granddaughters, will lead an armchair discussion with President Bush immediately following. Guests will then enjoy a delicious meal followed by a short presentation highlighting Foundation programs and the Timeless Values | Modern Experience campaign for the renovation of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and museum.
Business dress/cocktail attire requested.
