Grants Awarded to the Hoover Presidential Foundation

Helping Share Herbert Hoover’s Ideals

In addition to awarding grants, the Foundation applies for and receives grants to aid us in our mission. We are especially grateful to all of the organizations who have supported the Hoover Presidential Foundation over the years as they help us share Herbert Hoover’s life and legacy.

Grants Awarded in 2021

AEGON TransAmerica Foundation, $6,000

This project helps train and fund a part-time blacksmith to run the Blacksmith Shop on the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site

Fred Maytag Family Foundation, $25,000

This grant is used for the Hoover Uncommon Student Award program, where 15 Iowa high school juniors are selected as Uncommon Students and spend the summer working on a community-oriented project of their own design. Students will earn a share of over $60,000 is awards for their continued education.

Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, $67,281

Grants include $60,563 to the William B. Quarton Fund for the Hoover Presidential Libary, and $1,718 to the F. Forbes Olberg and Ann Olberg Endowment Fund.
Diamond V and CRST each granted $2,500 to the First Lady Lou traveling performances, a one-woman show detailing the life of First Lady Lou Henry Hoover.

Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, $41,450

American Rescue Humanities, $10,000 for live-streaming equipment
Iowa Arts Council, $18,000 for marketing Leonardo daVinci: Machines in Motion temporary exhibit
Iowa Arts Council, $9,575 in support of producing, directing and performing First Lady Lou.
Humanities Iowa,  $3,875 in support of producing, directing and performing First Lady Lou.

United Fire Group Foundation, $5,000

This grant is in support of producing, directing and performing First Lady Lou.

National Society of the Colonial Dames in the State of Iowa, $1,000

This grant is in support of producing, directing and performing First Lady Lou.

Pella Rolscreen Foundation, $5,000

This grant funds a part-time blacksmith to run the Blacksmith Shop on the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.

Iowa Tourism, $7,500

This grant is for Hoover’s Hometown Days marketing in Aug. of 2022.
