This game was invented by President Herbert Hoover’s personal physician, Joel T. Boone to keep the president fit. Since then, it has now become a loved activity in our community where we co-host the Hoover-Ball Championships each year.

Adult Hoover-Ball
New this year, Whitney’s Wings will be coordinating all Hoover-Ball Activities! Watch this space for online registration for our Adult tournament that plays on Saturday, August 6, 2022 in West Branch, Iowa. It is $25 for advance registration (until August 4 at 9 a.m.) or $35 day of with walk-up registration available from 8 – 8:45 a.m.
Youth Hoover-Ball
Our Youth tournament is a free event in West Branch, Iowa. Every participant will be given a t-shirt and winners will be awarded individual trophies. Registration will open June 1 and closes at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug 4, 2022. Teams are co-ed and divisions are not split up by gender. There are now three youth divisions and the break-down is as follows:
- Division I – students entering grades 4 and 5
- Division II – students entering grades 6 and 7
- Division III – students entering grades 8 and 9
Youth Hoover-Ball Camp is a free and fun way to build skills, learn the rules, and practice before the big game. Registration for camp and the tournament are all part of the same form – one and done!
To keep camp fun, please sign up for the appropriate age group on the registration form.
Div. I camp will be Weds July 20 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Hoover-Ball courts near 318 Main Street. The rain date will be Wed July 27.
Div. II camp will be Thurs July 21 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Hoover-Ball courts near 318 Main Street. The rain date will be Thurs July 28.
There is no camp for Div. III players.
Note: Teams must have 4 or 5 players to be considered eligible. Only the first 10 teams in each division to register a full roster will be guaranteed entry.
