Dr. Jan Wouters will give a special lecture detailing Herbert Hoover’s involvement in the restoration of the Leuven Library after its destruction during World War I. The building with its 300,000 titles were burned, and an effort was started among US colleges to restore it. When funds became scarce, Herbert Hoover stepped into the effort to ensure its completion.

This lecture will highlight a visit from the former Belgian Ambassador to the United States, Dirk Wouters.
